FDA Study Said to Show Avandia Risk
Read the NY Times article about the FDA warning on Avandia and Actos
Diabetes Drug
Avandia was created for patients suffering with Type II Diabetes, a medical condition in which the body does not properly control the amount of sugar in a person’s blood. After the Diabetes drug Rezulin was recalled, Avandia was marketed to consumers as a safer alternative. Avandia was supposedly less damaging to the liver than Rezulin, but was never found to be safe by the FDA (Food and Drug Administration). In fact, the FDA issued a warning to Avandia manufacturers because the manufacturers were violating regulations when they marketed the drug to consumers, and minimized the risks associated with it.
