Two Children Killed in Car Accident on Family Road Trip

A family from Queens was traveling home from Ohio after a road trip. The parents were 36-year-old S.C., a corrections officer, and 38-year-old R.C. and the children were aged 7 and 2. While driving on Interstate 76 on Thursday, the father lost control of their vehicle, which resulted in it rolling and colliding with an 18-wheeler truck. The two children were thrown from the SUV and killed and the parents both suffered from critical injuries, but survived the accident.

An investigation is underway into the exact cause of this accident. If any negligence was involved or an auto part defect was in any way to blame for the accident, a personal injury lawsuit could be necessary. In New York, relatives of the family set up a memorial so that friends and family could remember them. Friends and neighbors were shocked to hear the news and it is unknown as to whether the parents have been told of their loss as they are still in critical condition.

Car accidents are one of the most common causes of injury and death in the U.S. Accidents can be caused by bad weather, speeding, an auto part or road defect, a drunk driver, or a distracted driver. Although filing a personal injury lawsuit against the person who caused the accident will not bring the loved one back, it is still important to hold them accountable for what they have done.
